The endless features of the Himalayas always amaze me. No matter how many times I visit nearly the same stretch of peaks, the swirl of clouds and the dance of sunlight bring about new features and facets of the mountains in every direction. I enjoy this picture as the clouds perfectly opened to reveal a peak (sorry, I can't figure out which one it is, but if you know, drop me a line) black against the white around it. And the beautiful blue sky beyond.
Close, but still kilometers in the distance, Mount Everest (Sagarmatha to local Nepalis)keeps watch over trekkers stopping to rest at a Buddhist Stupa along one of many trails through the Himalayas. Warm weather greets Fall trekkers but snows can arrive at any time, making trekking not just a walk in the park. At the elevation of this stupa, about 12,800', travelers welcome any chance to sit, enjoy the view and catch their breath.
